backyard hammock and bubbles

Imagine stepping out of your home into lush abundant greenery. The air is fragrant with the delicate scent of blossoms and verdant life. You reach up, pick a few cherries, and feel the rush of sweetness as it hits your taste-buds, and milliseconds later your brain. It is hard to believe how much bounty you have harvested from this small space in the last few years with so little labour. You mentally thank the plants surrounding the cherry tree that support each other - and you - in a holistic system. And in the ultimate sign of a successfully designed system, instead of getting out your hoe and weeding tools as you once did, you slip into your hammock and admire the beauty around you.

permaculture [pur-muk-kuhl-cher]: noun.
A system of design that seeks to mimic
the structure of ecosystems to create
resilient and regenerative gardens,
homes, farms, and communities.

Regenerate Earth’s Systems

You want to do your part. You want to live more lightly on the Earth. Regenerative design focuses on repairing the damage we have caused to the Earth rather than simply trying to do less bad (which is what ‘sustainability’ seems to mean these days). Permaculture methods and mentalities seek to heal the planet while allowing us to thrive on this Earth for thousands of years. Don’t just preserve resources - create them.
